Youth Needs

Overall Requirements for Youth Workers:

 Experience with young adults by, supporting youth pastors, teachers, group homes, etc. through mentoring or leadership. Leadership/volunteer experience at youth tutoring or other youth-related activities.

No special licensing is needed as we will support and train the right individuals. Our main concern is a heart to work and support our community youth through your Christlike actions. QPR (suicide prevention) and Mandatory reporter training provided. 

Must have fingerprint/background clearance prior to working with Prodigals youth.

1:1 Youth Mentors (Volunteer)

  • Ability to help students develop coping strategies for the future 
  • Ability to help students develop personal goals 
  • Have a healthy understanding of boundaries 
  • Provide a model of healthy relationships 
  • Help youth learn how to communicate with parents/guardian 
  • Ability to update parents on areas of concern or focus while keeping students' information confidential 
  • General knowledge of coping skills for emotional disorders
  • Work in 1-1 settings 
  • Work in group settings 
  • Create intervention plans for students
